The Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 10 February 2011, commencing at 7:30pm. It will be held at the Hamilton Car Club Rooms, Vaile Road, Newstead, Hamilton.
All members are encouraged to attend to help set the future of the Club, and help commence planning for the 50 year celebration in 2014.
One topic of General Business is likely to be the possible reintroduction of a Nationals Event. We need as much varied input as possible for this type of discussion.

Hi everyone, I am trying to get together a slideshow for the prize giving for the Tarmac Series. I would like to see any photos anyone has that you are happy for me to use. They are best in jpeg at a size that doesn’t lose too much in Keynote/Powerpoint.
Similarly for any short video clips. I will be using the Keynote programme on my mac, but I am confident I can make most things work somehow.
I have started putting things together so I would welcome contributions.

Well we must have been good kiddies at the University because they have allowed us back to run the autocross in the same carpark. Obviously the same conditions will apply, and any stupidity will result in the use of the venue becoming tenuous, but will result in the perpetrator being sent home immediately, do not pass go, do not collect your entry fee back on the way out. I know it sounds a bit over the top, but we really struggle for venues that are accessible and affordable.
So the autocross; what do you need? Start by reading the regulations which are at the bottom of this post, pick an Entry Form format that suits and get your entry in as soon as possible. When you send your entry in please send in as much information as possible. This helps speed the process at documentation. I hate the time this takes as much as anyone, but we need to do it to make sure you and the Club are protected if anything turns to custard.
This event needs a little bit more preparation than the motorkhana, you need a helmet and overalls, see this link for details http://motorsport.org.nz/Pdf/LiveMM34%20Book1%20App2%20Sch%20A.pdf or phone the Series Technical Officer or Series Scrutineer at the numbers shown in the Portfolio. Your car needs to be safe, at least up to current WOF standards in areas where your safety and that of the people around you could be compromised. It does not have to be registered, but if it isn’t, please trailer it to the venue!
We will be ready to start documentation at 8:00am, and it needs to be finished by 9:30am. This should be easier than the motorkhana as we have many of your details already and we need to just make sure they are still current.
So, let’s see those entries as early as possible. If you aren’t sure of how to best use the Drop Down Entry Form give me a ring after 7:30pm and before 9:30pm any evening and I will talk you through it.
Ciao,

Well,
Here we go again. Judging by the weather in Hamilton today it must be Tarmac Series time. This year we don’t have a Series Sponsor so the series will be known as the Fiat Club Waikato Tarmac Series.
50 people turned up to play today despite the weather and the unfortunate clash with a sprint that some Hamilton Car Club members attended. As is usual with our motorkhanas for this series we started gently with a Slalom and a Clover Leaf. We had an almost perfect first round so for their second runs people started looking to get some early advantage. As we also expect, Minis and other small front wheel drive cars are in their element when the going is tight. I did have to discourage one of the drivers of a small car from setting up the cones only 8 metres apart for the slalom. The Volvo 760 run by Mark Empson and Ben Walker looks to be almost longer than that.
After we each had our 2 runs at the 2 courses competitors and supporters alike descended on the barbecue for sausages and bacon and egg sandwiches while 2 more courses were set up. We then had turns at tackling the Decreasing Circles and Christmas Tree tests. Towards the end of this the rain lashed us again and we decided to get the timers and helpers out of the weather so pulled the results together and presented a few prizes.
Overall the day was won by Stuart Cannan from Pukekohe Car Club in his Civic also taking out Class B. Second and third were also Pukekohe Car Club members Paul Crispe and Cristo Strydom. First in Class A, and 5th overall was Ben Taylor in his Mini, first in Class C, and 7th overall was Heath Simone in his Peugeot 205 GTI, beating the first Class D car of Nik Lowther in his turboed MX5 one place behind. 18th overall was David Middlemiss, our first Junior in his Peugeot 106, or should I say Dad’s 106. David was the first of 11 Juniors, exactly the sorts of numbers we wish to see at every round.
So here we are into it again. Next month is the autocross, venue to be confirmed. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible in July and beyond.
Ciao,
Campbell

It is with much regret that we have to announce the cancellation of the Ruapuke Road Sprint due to insufficient entries.

Well, here we are gearing up for our Te Mata Sprint on Ruapuke Road. We have come back to a date where we traditionally ran and we are looking forward to another great day out in the country. Attached below are Regulations and an Entry Form in pdf format, along with an Entry form in Word format for those who have that available on their computers.
As noted in the Regulations it would be a great help to the organisers if as many as possible could get scrutineered on the Saturday. If we get sufficient numbers from Auckland we will set up Scrutineering there as well.
Look forward to your Entries.

As usual we are off to Taupo in January for Driver Training and Dual Car Sprinting. Now that A1GP appears to have imploded we have had the ability to have a more user friendly date. Sunday 23rd January is the big day, and we will be documenting and scrutineering in Hamilton on the Saturday at Research Motors, Ruakura Lane off Ruakura Road. We now have a Licenced Scrutineer based in Auckland so we will be looking to do as many cars as possible there as well to make things quicker and easier at Taupo. More information on that when we have set a time and location. It certainly helps when as many as possible are scrutineered in advance, and with that documentation is checked as well.
We are again limiting entries to 60, with up to 20 for training. This is not an excuse for an extra fang, it is for people who want some instruction in how to drive on the track - and this translates to better driving on the road as the skills learned help keep you out of trouble.
Attached are the regulations, slightly changed from the originals emailed out, and the Entry Form. Please get your entry in as early as possible so we know who is coming, and how many trainers we need.
